HAGERSTOWN — The alley connecting Lanvale Street to Concord Street between Ross Street and Summer Street is closed off at Lanvale Street. Work crews from Miller Pipeline are relining sewer pipes in the area, according to a construction update from the Wastewater section on the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org.

In early December, Miller Pipeline began relining sewer pipes on this alley and around Wareham Alley, according to the update. The area near Wareham Alley is currently open.

Miller Pipeline has been working on sewer lines for more than a year as part of a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project at sites throughout the city, according to the update.

The work includes repairing sewer mains, repairing sewer lines and sewer rehabilitation. The work is being done on the pipes because, due to their age, water that did not need to be treated was infiltrating them.

Similar work has been done on Cleveland Avenue, Cannon Avenue, and West Baltimore Street  since the beginning of September, East Washington Street since November, and Alley 1-130 behind University Plaza since the beginning of December.
