Couple donates meat to Williamsport food bank

Robert and Shirley Harsh of Williamsport recently donated about 1,000 pounds of ground beef to the Williamsport Food Bank.

The Williamsport Order of Red Men Tribe 84 and Williamsport Lions Club each paid $225 for the processing of the meat.

The ground beef filled two upright freezers at the food bank.

Free Christmas Day dinner at Rehoboth

The Shepherd’s Table at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 E. Salisbury St., will serve its sixth annual Christmas dinner Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The holiday dinner will be a traditional meal of ham, turkey and all the trimmings.

The dinner is free to everyone.

Handicap entrance is on East Salisbury Street.

The Shepherd’s Table will be closed on Thursdays, Dec. 22 and 29. It will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 5.

Polar Bear Plunge to take place Jan. 1

The community is invited to join the fun at the annual Polar Bear Plunge, beginning at noon on New Year’s Day at River Bottom Park.

The event is sponsored by the Humane Society of Washington County, Williamsport Polar Bear Club and the Town of Williamsport. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society.

Williamsport Town Hall holiday schedule

Williamsport Town Hall will close at noon Friday in observance of the Christmas holiday. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28.

In observance of the New Year’s holiday, Town Hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 2.

Christmas lights on display in park

The Christmas light display in Byron Memorial Park will continue to be on each night until Jan. 2. And Santa plans to be there most evenings until Christmas Eve.

The display is free. Donations are appreciated. A drop box is available.

Zumba begins in January

Zumba fitness classes will be offered at St. Mark’s Parish Hall, Lappans Road, Boonsboro.

The 13-week session begins in January.
