Franklin County Emergency Services report

The following incidents were reported Monday by Franklin County Emergency Services:

At 4:32 a.m., a vehicle fire in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg.
At 6:09 a.m., a traffic accident at Wayne Avenue and Orchard Drive.

W.Va. man charged after Saturday chase

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Martinsburg man was charged Saturday with leading police on a chase that spanned Interstate 81 and several other roadways, the Martinsburg Police Department said.

William Brandon Jenkins, 29, of 122 Rolling Meadow Drive in Martinsburg, was charged with fleeing driving under the influence and fleeing reckless, according to a news release from the police.

The incident started at 6:16 p.m., when officers tried to stop a recklessly driven vehicle in the area of Apple Harvest Drive, police said. Officers backed away from the vehicle because of high traffic in the area, then relocated it near Apple Harvest Drive and Foxcroft Avenue.

Police said the driver steered the vehicle onto I-81 north and got off the interstate at exit 14. The vehicle continued on Dry Run and Thatcher roads. Officers said they later found the driver blacked out behind a barn on Working Deer Drive. The driver fled again and eventually crashed into a utility pole in the backyard of a home at 2008 Thatcher Road.

The driver was taken to City Hospital in Martinsburg to be treated for minor injuries before he was released to the custody of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, the release said.

Molotov cocktail thrown on roof of Pa. fire department

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are looking for the person who threw a Molotov cocktail on the roof of the Fayetteville Fire Department at 101 W. Main St.

A 20-ounce plastic bottle with a rag shoved into the opening was found at about 1 p.m. Friday while workers were repairing the roof, according to a news release from the state police.

Troopers said the bottle, which was thrown on top of the fire department’s bunk room, failed to ignite.

Television, bonds stolen from Pa. home

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Thieves stole a television set, $20,000 in bonds and several other items when they broke into a home last week in the 4300 block of Fording Creek Road in Montgomery Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

The incident occurred between 7 and 11 a.m. Friday, when the burglars entered through the basement door of a home at 4302 Fording Creek Road and made off with the bonds, a 42-inch Samsung television, a .22-caliber pistol, a diamond ring, an opal ring and a jewelry box, according to a news release from the state police.

Troopers said the burglars fled in an unknown direction.

Pa. man charged after trash dumped in Dumpster belonging to someone else

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — A Greencastle man was charged with allegedly dumping 10 trash bags in a Dumpster that was owned by someone else, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Matthew Lee Knotts, 23, was charged with theft of services, according to a state police news release.

Troopers allege that Knotts put the trash in a Dumpster at about 5:40 p.m. Thursday near the Subway restaurant at 10830 John Wayne Drive in Antrim Township.

Police said no-dumping signs were posted around the Dumpster.
