For a second time this week, the United Petroleum gas station at 890 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown was the target of an armed robbery Friday evening, city police said.

Three male suspects entered the store brandishing guns and demanding money, according to news release from the Hagerstown Police Department. The robbery was reported at 7:11 p.m., a Washington County emergency dispatch supervisor said.

The males were last seen fleeing north on the railroad tracks, away from the gas station, the supervisor said. They escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Police said a Maryland State Police helicopter and K9 unit checked the area immediately after the robbery but by about 9 p.m. had not located the suspects.

One of the males was described as white, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a knit cap and black jacket. The second male was white, about 6 feet tall, wearing a burgundy hooded sweatshirt with white lettering and blue jeans, while the third male was described as wearing a black-and-gray striped shirt and black gloves, police said.

This is the second time this week the gas station on Pennsylvania Avenue was robbed. Police said that a black male with a knife entered the store at about 8:10 p.m. Wednesday and demanded cash from an employee. He fled after stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.
