December 15, 2011

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Police have released the identity of a woman injured in a traffic accident Monday in the 400 block of West Loudon Street that shut down the street for more than eight hours.

Marcy L. White, 25, of 242 Linden Ave., of Chambersburg, is in serious condition at York (Pa.) Hospital after being flown from Chambersburg Hospital, according to York Hospital spokesman Barry Sparks.

The crash occurred at 10:34 a.m. and closed Loudon Street to traffic for more than eight hours, according to Chambersburg police.

Police said White was traveling west in a 2002 Mercury when it was struck by a 2007 Buick driven by 67-year-old Patricia Bixler of Pen Wood Court in Chambersburg.

White's vehicle slid through a telephone pole, severing the pole at the base. Her vehicle continued through a flower bed before coming to rest in the parking lot of Carson's Motel, police said.

Bixler was not injured in the crash, police said.

Chambersburg police continue to investigate the crash.
