Mr. S. Andrew "Andy" Kindle, 77, of Smithsburg, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the Golden Living Center, Hagerstown, Md., surrounded by his loving family. He had been in failing health for the past two years.  

Born Oct. 21, 1934, in Edgemont, Md., he was the son of the late Lewis “Jack” and Curella (Plume) Kindle.  
He was a lifelong resident of the Smithsburg area.  

He and his wife, the late Rebecca F. “Becky” (Kuhn) Kindle, were married Oct. 26, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Smithsburg. Mrs. Kindle died Aug. 20, 2005.  

Mr. Kindle worked as a foreman at Blue Mountain Orchards and later as an equipment operator for R.F. Kline in Frederick, Md.
 
He was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ, and enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

He is survived by four daughters, C. Susie Snow and her husband, Scott, of Smithsburg, Brenda J. Covell and her husband, Mark, of Smithsburg, C. Dian Blust and her husband, Tim, of Lucas, Ohio, and Wanda J. Hunt and her husband, Dave, of Boydton, Va.; three sons, Richard A. Kindle of York, Pa., estranged son, Thomas E. Kindle of West Palm Beach, Fla., and David L. Kindle and his wife, Debbie, of Smithsburg; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.  

He was the last of his immediate family.  

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Kindle, in 1971; two sisters, Jane Fox and Elsie Jones; and five brothers, Richard Kindle, Charles Kindle, Clifford Kindle, Amos Kindle and Harry Kindle.  

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Richard Daughtridge officiating. Burial will follow in Ringgold Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
