Part of S. Potomac St. closed Friday for building material deliveries

December 08, 2011

The 100 block of South Potomac Street is scheduled to close Friday at the Washington County Library site, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org.

The work had been scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed due to weather conditions and scheduling issues, city Communications Manager Erin Wolfe said in an email.

Work crews from Dustin Construction will be receiving deliveries of building materials at the site, according to the advisory.  The street needs to be closed in order to accommodate the crane that will be used to lift these materials onto the building.

Traffic will be detoured to East Antietam Street, South Mulberry Street and East Baltimore Street.

Motorists approaching the work zone should expect to encounter cones, barricades, detour signs, and other traffic control devices.

Closure is expected to remain in effect between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to the advisory.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through the work area during the closure.
