Bus driver cited after Wednesday morning crash

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Berkeley County Schools bus driver was cited following a Wednesday morning crash involving the bus and a Honda sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Tuscarora Pike and Delmar Orchard Road, police said.

Crystal Thomas, 44, was cited with failure to yield at an intersection, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the SUV, Laura Rogers, 37, was taken to City Hospital for minor injuries after the crash, which occurred about 8:21 p.m., police said.

Police said 13 students were on the bus and one student was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, police said.

The bus and the SUV were towed from the scene, police said.

Employees from the county's school bus garage responded to the scene to help with the transportation of other students on the bus, police said.
