Enos Wayne “Bunk” Myers, 84, of Maugansville, Md., and formerly of Fairview Road in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born May 1, 1927, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Grover C. Myers Sr. and Hazel L. Hawbaker Myers.

Bunk was employed as a truck driver for 50 years — five years by Sea Wheels and 45 years as an independent driver. After retirement, he was employed part time by Eby’s Lawn and Garden Center in Cearfoss.

He attended schools in Pennsylvania.

He loved to play cards and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lena M. Dieterich of Maugansville; three daughters, Judy “Anne” Toms and husband, Harry “Terry,” of Boonsboro, Shirley Lee Mills of Hagerstown and Sharon Louise Custer of Hagerstown, one son, Dennis Wayne Myers of Hagerstown; one sister, Dorothy Lorretta Hose of Mercersburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He also cherished his two pets, Snowball and Mr. Wiggles.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Steele and Marie Hock; one brother, Grover C. Myers Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Misty Myers.

Services will be Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Md. The Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Rescue Mission Inc., 125 N. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
