Constance “Connie” Dentler, 88, of Plantation, Florida, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at her home.

Born Dec. 22, 1922, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Leon and Hazel Trovinger Bond.

She was a 1941 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

After high school, she was employed at Montgomery Ward, and during World War II, she worked at Fairchild Aircraft, later becoming a full-time parent raising her children.

Connie was a member of the Democratic Club of Washington County for more than 30 years and worked for numerous years at the election polls.

She was a former member of First Christian Church of Hagerstown and also Grace Brethren Church of Hagerstown.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Dentler of Hagerstown, who died in 2001.

She lived in Hagerstown most of her life, but later moved to South Florida to live with her daughter.  

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Dentler Wallace and husband, Richard, Plantation, FL; two sons, Keith Dentler, Hagerstown, and Kevin Dentler and wife, Dee, Williamsport, Md.; four grandsons, Douglas Wallace and wife, Tanya, of Plantation, Brian Wallace and wife, Heidi, of Elizabeth City, N.C., Drew Wallace and wife, Kara, of Sunrise, FL, and D.J. Wallace, of Plantation; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family received friends at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home in Plantation, Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011. Another service to receive friends will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Sunday, Dec. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m.

She will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, Monday, Dec. 12, at 9:30 a.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made to either the Humane Society of Washington County or Hospice of Washington County.
