December 03, 2011

A Funkstown woman was injured Saturday morning when her car collided with a pickup truck on Interstate 81 south of Cearfoss Pike, Maryland State Police said.

Frances Ecton of Funkstown was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to a state police news release.

The driver of the pickup, David Durboraw of Greencastle, Pa., also was taken to Meritus Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, the release said.

Meritus Medical Center no longer releases the condition of patients to the media.

Troopers said Ecton was driving a 1995 Lincoln passenger car north in the southbound lanes of I-81 around 9 a.m. when she collided head-on with a Chevrolet S10 that was being driven south by Durboraw.

The interstate had to be shut down for a short period of time while rescue workers responded to the scene, the release said.
