E. Jeannette Kuhn, 80, of Brandenburg Hollow Road in Smithsburg, Md., passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, from acute leukemia at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born April 6, 1931, in Garfield, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ernest R. "Rex" and Goldie R. (Wolfe) Kuhn.

She was a 1948 graduate of Middletown High School, and graduated from Washington County Hospital School of Nursing in 1951.

She was employed by Washington County Hospital from 1951 to 1952, and by George Washington University Hospital from 1952 to 1993, when she retired.

She was a life member of Garfield United Methodist Church, where she served as lay leader for many years.

She is survived by sisters, Virginia Draper of Myersville, Md., Betty Harsh and husband, Martin, of Williamsport, Md., and Judy House and husband, Robert, of Frederick, Md.; brothers, Donald E. Kuhn and wife, Naomi, of Wolfsville, Md., Paul Kuhn and wife, Betty, of Wolfsville, John Kuhn and wife, Ruth, of Middletown, Md., and George Kuhn of Sabillasville, Md.; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolly Beachley and Martha Mae Lovell; and three infant siblings.

Services will be Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Garfield United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jennifer Kokoski officiating. Burial will be in Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
