American Red Cross of Washington County donates office space

November 30, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — In keeping with the area's new Strategic Community Impact Plan, the American Red Cross of Washington County has donated office space at its Conrad Court location to Volunteer Washington County.

The Red Cross heeded the call issued in the plan to work collaboratively, announcing the donation on Nov. 16, only two days after community leaders launched the SCIP, according to a news release from the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"The American Red Cross is all about volunteers," Executive-Director Julie Barr-Strasburg said in the release. "Our organization could not exist without them. We do whatever we can to promote volunteerism, and the American Red Cross is pleased to partner with Volunteer Washington County."

Volunteer Washington County is a one-stop source for volunteer information. It acts as a clearinghouse between residents looking to serve and local agencies in need of volunteers, the release said.

"You can never have too many people working together for the good of the community," Sam Cool, president of Volunteer Washington County, said in the release.
