Hagerstown hires former WHAG-TV assignment editor

November 30, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — Former WHAG-TV Assignment Editor Erin Wolfe has been hired by the city of Hagerstown to manage its communications.

Wolfe was officially hired as communications manager for the city on Nov. 21, Human Resource Director Donna Frazier said.

The city's communications manager position became vacant in September when Mary King, a former WHAG-TV anchor, announced she was leaving the post to take a job closer to her family in the Carolinas.

Wolfe will earn an annual salary of $60,819, Frazier said.

Frazier said Wolfe will also receive the $1,000 bonus the city approved for each full-time employee this month.

Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II said previously that the bonuses were given as a thank you for employees, who among other things, lost 10 days of pay in the last fiscal year that decreased their average salaries by 3.8 percent.

City Clerk Donna Spickler said previously that employees were to receive the bonus on Nov. 28.

John Lestitian, who as city director of Community and Economic Development oversees Wolfe’s post, said her position is vital to the continued re-invention of Hagerstown. “The city looks forward to Erin building a dynamic communications program,” he said.
