WAYNESBORO, Pa. —  The Franklin County (Pa.) Elections Board has certified results from the Nov. 8 municipal election, including the 146 write-in votes that won Mike Cermak a seat on the Waynesboro Borough Council.

The elections board certified winners Monday, making the results official, Deputy Chief Clerk Jean Byers said.
Cermak ran a quiet write-in campaign for the First Ward seat held by Ronnie Martin for the past four years.

Martin, a real estate agent, appeared on ballots and received 82 votes.

Cermak, 66, is a building inspector for the Borough of Waynesboro through Accredited Services Inc., a company owned by his wife. He’s lived on East Second Street for 20 years, after previously living in Zullinger, Pa., and Chambersburg, Pa.

He and his wife, Sandie, have two sons and two grandchildren.

In a previous interview, Cermak said he felt it was time for new ideas on the board. He also said he’d like to see matters resolved more quickly.

He did not return a phone call Monday.
