HAGERSTOWN — The families and staff at St. John’s Preschool in Hagerstown learned about the value of giving to children who are living in poverty.

The program titled Operation Christmas Child is a project organized through Samaritan’s Purse, a missionary program that travels worldwide delivering shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in need.

The children were given the task to share with those in need and filled more than 30 shoeboxes with school supplies, toys and treats to be delivered to children around the world.

A parishioner of St. John’s generously offered to pay the $7 postage for each of the collected shoeboxes.

The preschool is at 101 S. Prospect St. in Hagerstown. It is affiliated with St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Open enrollment is available for 3- and 4-year-old students. For more information, call Lisa Appleby at 301-733-6520, ext. 110.
