Church to hold revival

The Samples Manor Church of God will hold a Thanksgiving Revival tonight and tomorrow evening at 7:30 and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the church at 2128 Harper's Ferry Road near Dargan. Hear Pastor Kenny Johnson preaching, praise and testimony, special music and singing nightly. Call 304-616-1437.

Potomac Valley Fire Co. to hold basket bingo

The Potomac Valley Fire Co. in the community of Dargan will hold a basket bingo at the fire company Saturday. Doors open at 11 a.m.

Bingo starts at 1 p.m. $15 tickets plus extra packs and specials. Food available.

Rural Heritage Museum to hold open house

The Washington County Rural Heritage Museum will hold its Annual Holiday Open House Saturday, Dec. 3 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Visitors will see Santa Claus and an authentic sleigh for photo opportunities (please bring camera). The museum will have special holiday decorations on display, a children's workshop and craft area to create decorations, artisan bread tasting, and Rural Heritage Village and Homestead tours (weather permitting), refreshments, cookies and punch.


The gift shop is open and offers many new holiday items for gift giving.

Admission to the open house is free with donations accepted.

Sharpsburg to provide bulk trash pickup

The Town of Sharpsburg will provide a bulk trash pickup Wednesday. Bulk items are to be placed out beside regular trash items Tuesday after 4 p.m.

Please review this list of unacceptable items: paint (unless it is completely dried out), soil, rocks, sod, tree trunks, limbs, or stumps resulting from tree removal, parts of motor vehicles, poisons, acids, caustics, gasoline, oil and other flammable substances, explosives, ammunition (or other hazardous or dangerous materials), bricks, blocks, concrete in any form, and any commercial waste (i.e. waste from home renovations, remodeling).

Lions celebrate the Christmas holiday

The Sharpsburg Lions will hold their Christmas party Thursday at the Old Sheraton on the Dual Highway with dinner beginning at 7 p.m.

The Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home is the site of a second Christmas party the following Thursday, Dec. 8.

Lions will help the new South Carroll Lions Club celebrate Charter Night at Messiah Lutheran Church near Sykesville the next day, Friday, Dec. 9.

The Sharpsburg Lions Club meets the first and third Thursdays of the month at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main St., Sharpsburg.
