Marine Corps League, Antietam Cable donate to Toys for Tots

November 24, 2011

For the second consecutive year, the Marine Corps League, Antietam Detachment of Hagerstown, has partnered with Antietam Cable Television to provide toys to children in the community through the Toys for Tots program.

Antietam Cable has donated more than $20,000 in advertising and other services during the upcoming holiday season.

Antietam Cable also is fostering awareness with its customers by providing free installations and service upgrades in exchange for a donation of a new unwrapped toy that will be donated back to the Toys for Tots program and a link on its website at www.antietamcable.com for direct donations.

The drive continues through Dec. 19.

"The primary goal of the Toys for Tots program is to deliver a message of hope through a shiny new toy for the holidays. The local need for toys has increased greatly this year given the challenges of the current economy. Through Antietam Cable's generous donation, we can meet this need and in turn help to motivate these children to grow into responsible, productive citizens," said Jim Mills, chairman, Toys for Tots program. "Last year's donation from Antietam Cable and its customers was one of the largest donations we have ever received, and we are hoping for the same success this year."

"There are few things more rewarding than bringing the magic of the season to a local child," said Brian Lynch, president of Antietam Cable Television. "That is why we are continuing this countywide awareness effort for the second year in a row, and are giving our customers the opportunity to help as well."
