Mail Call - Nov. 22

November 22, 2011

“I guess you news reporters out there and the rest of the media will be on that story for a while now, until something else comes along, concerning Joe Paterno and his former coordinator, Jerry Sandusky. I feel for some of those people out there in the world today, but I just can’t reach some of them. I feel also that we reap what we sow. That’s all I have to say. And all those people are going around praising Joe Paterno. I mean, what did he ever do for me or you, besides nothing. We all have skeletons in our closet, now don’t we? We’re all not perfect.”

— Greencastle, Pa.

“It seems like such a long time ago, when Coach Paterno’s inability to choose one quarterback was thought to be a controversy.”

— Hagerstown

“I just wanted to respond about the global warming thing. It’s all a hoax. It’s a hoax. Because God has everything under control. Yes, we can recycle, save trees and all that, and I believe we should. There’s a lot of stuff we use in the earth that we can replace, but global warming, mankind has no control over that. It’s been proven for 100 years or more that you have about two or three years where the temperature is higher. Global warming, I want to ask anybody, why do we have all this snow? Answer that question for me.”

— Hagerstown

“This is about that two-car crash on Dual Highway, the intersection. What seems funny is they didn’t put the people’s names in the paper, who they were. Why didn’t they put that in there?”

— National Pike

“Looking back at the last Republican president, and those running for presidency this time under the Republican banner, has Texas lost all their village idiots?”

— Hagerstown

“This is in response to the person who called in from Sharpsburg about the video now on about the judge who beat his daughter with a belt back in 2004. Well, this person said, as a matter of fact, she got, him or her got beat with a stick or a green switch, a belt or a green switch, and it never hurt them; taught them respect. So tell you what we’ll do. We won’t make you travel far. We’ll meet you in the square in Sharpsburg, and we’ll let everybody who shows up take a switch at you.”

— Hagerstown

“Nice article on the ‘Officials: Keep fire funding fix local’ in the paper on the 11th. But the problem is, when are they going to get their books audited yearly, and submitted to the county commissioners for review, or the gaming commission, before they get funding? That is essential. We need to know where the money is.”

— Washington County

“This is to the person who thinks that we should go back to beating our children. I was beat when I was a kid, and I promised myself I would never beat my children, and I never have, and they are very well-behaved, and our teachers told us he is great with the classmates. You don’t have to beat your children. Just take things from them that they love.”

— Hagerstown
