Sponsored signs to replace bows on downtown lampposts

November 22, 2011

This year, the City of Hagerstown and the Barbara Ingram foundation are working together to bring a new look to the heart of the city.

For a $100 sponsorship, the traditional red bow, which has hung on the lampposts, has been replaced with a 14-by-14-inch sign at the top of each post. The sign will be white with red lettering, and decorated appropriately for the holiday season.

The name of a business or organization will be displayed on the sign, or sponsors can choose one of three greetings. The city has 150 numbered lampposts. A number will be assigned with the sponsorship. If a lamppost is close to a business, sponsors should indicate that number on the form when signing up for the program. The numbers are in yellow on the bottom of the posts. Sponsorships have been extended to Dec. 5.
