Cascade Elementary

A report from Cascade Elementary School fifth-grade teachers Austin Gray and Angie Bowers:

The fifth-grade teachers ask parents to continue to check the students’ planners each night and review their homework with them.

Math has been exciting working with their benchmark, and then it was on to decimals, fractions and percents.

Reading — please, try to read with your child each night.

Science was extremely interesting with the building and eruption of their own volcano.

Social studies was the study of the geography of the world. Also, the students have been studying the regions of the United States and the five themes of geography.

Robinwood Players to perform play

Hagerstown Community College’s Robinwood Players will perform “Marat/Sade” Friday, Dec. 2, to Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Classroom Building Auditorium CLR-111.

Written by playwright Peter Weiss and translated from the original German by Geoffrey Skelton, “Marat/Sade” is based on the story of the Marquis de Sade and the plays that he staged with fellow inmates while imprisoned in Charenton Asylum.

The show won the 1965 Tony Award for best play and best director, as well as the 1966 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for best play.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3, and 2 p.m. Dec. 4.

Admission costs $10, but HCC students, staff and faculty can attend for free.

Advanced tickets can be purchased through the HCC Bookstore by calling 240-500-2271. Tickets will also be available at the door before each performance.

The play contains mature subject matter and is not suitable for children. For more information, send an email to Dave Dull, director, at ddull@hagerstowncc.edu.
