Thanksgiving Day starts it off

November 22, 2011|Susie Hoffman | Around Funkstown

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. It’s true. Turkeys are thawing in the refrigerator, some serious house cleaning is going on and moods are on the upswing.

I so enjoy the upcoming festivities. The food, the family, the decorations, there is not a minute to spare.

Head into this time of year with a great attitude. Gather your loved ones around you and celebrate the joys of family.

Yard waste pickup

As you know, yard waste pickup is on Tuesday mornings and will continue through the end of the month. Yard waste should be set out the day before, no earlier than 4 p.m.

Trash pickup is on Thursday mornings and also should not be set out earlier than 4 p.m. the day before. Trash pickup this week will be delayed one day to Friday.

Olde Tyme Christmas

Looking ahead a few weeks, Olde Tyme Christmas is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Luminaria kits will be dropped off at homes in the week preceding.

The event will include wagon rides, Christmas entertainment, children’s activities, house decorating contests and free refreshments at Town Hall.
