2. Turn on the Christmas lights

On Friday, Dec. 2, watch as the Christmas tree and decorations are illuminated on City Park Lake and enjoy refreshments, music and activities at Jonathan Hager House, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and the Mansion House Art Gallery. 3. Cookie and a book

Smithsburg Library, 66 W. Water St., will host an open house frmo 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. Cookies and hot beverages, a mini book sale, and a story time for all ages by the library fireplace. Free take-home craft kit for the kids. Story time, 7:15 p.m. Call 301-824-7722.

5. Wrapping up for charity

Girls Inc. will be wrapping gifts from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, Hagerstown Premium Outlets food court, 495 Premium Outlets Blvd., south of Hagerstown. Proceeds benefit Girls Inc.
