GIRLS BASKETBALL

Goretti 51, SVCA 42

Severija Narkute — a sophomore exchange student from Lithuania — scored a game-high 25 points to lead St. Maria Goretti past Shenandoah Valley Christian in the semifinals of the Lions Classic.

T.J. Tillman — a sophomore who transferred from Tuscarora — added 10 points, five rebounds and five steals for the Gaels (3-0), who will face host Broadfording for the title tonight at 6.

Shannon Conradi had 14 points for SVCA.

Broadfording 65, Highland View 29

Katie Connolly knocked down five 3-pointers on the way to a 34-point performance and finished with a triple-double as Broadfording Christian (1-0) put away Highland View Academy in the Lions Classic semifinals.

Broadfording pulled away to a 23-2 advantage after one period. Connolly added 13 rebounds and 10 steals, while Jade Boone had 20 points, nine rebounds and six steals.

Elyssa Harrison scored 10 points to lead Highland View Academy (0-2).

Broadfording 63, Highland View 40

Mo Sallah had 14 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks to lead Broadfording past Highland View in the Lions Classic semifinals.

The Lions (1-0) will face Shenandoah Valley Christian in tonight’s final at 7:30. SVCA defeated Grace Brethren 83-69 in the other semifinal.

Cisco Silva had 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, and Ben Cradduck added 14 points and eight rebounds for Broadfording.

Hunter Sorenson had 10 points for Highland View.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Hawks’ Reynolds honored

First-year Hagerstown Community College coach Ann Reynolds was named the Region XX Coach of the Year for guiding the Hawks to their ninth straight region championship and appearance at the NJCAA Division II national tournament.

HCC finished 27-9 overall and beat Potomac State in five games in the Region XX Tournament final. Potomac State had defeated the Hawks in four games previously.
Four HCC players recognized

Hagerstown sophomore middle hitter Brittany Skrutski was named to the 2011 All-Maryland JuCo Conference first team, while three teammates also received honors.
Sophomore outside hitter Cortney Silvis and freshman outside hitter Emmalyn Stahl were named to the second team, while freshman setter Paige Kitchen received honorable mention.
