Name of business: Pure Pazazz

Owner: Debra Hockenberry

Address: 38 W. Baltimore St., inside Blondy & Co., Funks-town

Opening date: Aug. 9, 2011

Products and services: Family hair care, cuts, clipper cuts, razor cuts, color, foil hi-lites/low-lites, perms, manicures, pedicures, special-occasion styles and roller sets.

Market area: Clients who are looking for a dependable stylist who listens to their needs and offers excellent results at competitive prices.

How did you get into your business, or what motivated you to start it? I wanted to offer the best experience for my clients and to be somewhere that offered a professional atmosphere where I could showcase my work. I believe that a good relationship between the stylist and client is about quality, not quantity, and I didn’t feel I could offer that in a chain salon. Having my own business gives me the flexibility to better accommodate my clients and provide them with the time they need and deserve.

Previous business experience: I owned my own salon nine years ago and have been a manager for several chain salons.
