November 18, 2011

UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police have charged two people with causing head injuries and other injuries to a 2-year-old girl earlier this month in Union Township, Pa.

Joscelyn Amber Murray, 24, of Mercersburg, Pa., and Lance Alan Hixon, 32, of Warfordsburg, Pa., have been charged with one felony count each of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, and one misdemeanor count each of simple assault, according to a state police news release.

Troopers said the injuries to the girl were classified as moderate to severe.

The alleged abuse occurred in the 1800 block of Lehman Road from Nov. 1-4, when the girl was struck with hands and foreign objects, causing injuries to her head, eyes and body, the release said.

Troopers said Hixon and Murray were taken to the Franklin County (Pa.) Prison.

Bond was set at $100,000 each and a jail records employee said Hixon posted bond Thursday and was released.

Murray was still at the facility Friday afternoon, according to jail records.
