Hillary Haugh Henson Price, 83, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Golden Living Center of Hagerstown.

Born May 1, 1928, in Waynesboro, Pa., Hillary was the only child of the late William Newton Henson and Mary Belle (Haugh) Henson, and was raised by her grandparents, Benjamin and Nancy Belle Henson, and her paternal great-aunts, Catherine and Maude Louise.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Price, in September 1974.

Hillary graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1946. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Maryland Ribbon Co. During her husband's terms as sheriff of Washington County from 1958 until 1974, she served as the matron of the Washington County Jail in Hagerstown. Following her husband's death, she worked in the dietary department at Washington County Hospital.

Hillary found great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed taking care of and decorating her home.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Ann Williams of Smithsburg and her husband, David, and Cathy Lou Vega  and her husband, Eleazar, of Frederick, Md.; a son, Rustin E. Price and his wife, Debbie, of Sparks, Md.; six grandchildren, Kelli Ann Albright of Maugansville, Marlin J. Thompson of Frederick, Ryan C. Williams of New York, N.Y., Berkley C. Price of Sparks, Jordan L. Williams of Smithsburg and Eleana M. Vega of Frederick; and two great-grandchildren, Jaylin Thompson of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Marli Thompson of Frederick.

There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Chapel, with the Rev. Iris Sauber officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service, beginning at 10.30 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to one's charity of choice.

Arrangements are being handled by J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
