One person wounded during robbery
Hagerstown police were searching Tuesday for three males who broke into an apartment Monday night and allegedly shot a person in the foot, Police Chief Arthur Smith said.

“We’re still not sure what happened,” Smith said Tuesday. “That might take us a while .... We’re still sorting through stories.”
Police responded shortly after 11 p.m. to an apartment at 460 Summit Ave., a police department news release said. Several people were in the apartment, and one had been wounded.

Officers were told that one to three males, one with a handgun, had entered the apartment and demanded money, the release said.

Police were told that the person with the gun allegedly took a cellphone and money from the pockets of one of the people in the apartment, then fired a single round, striking the unidentified victim in the foot.

Smith said the people involved gave police varying stories at the scene.

Information about the victim was unavailable.

He said the victim suffered a minor wound to his neck.

Howard was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and weapons violation, according to a police department news release.
