Person shot in foot during reported burglary in Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN — A person was shot in the foot during an alleged burglary Monday night in an apartment at 460 Summit Ave., according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

Police responded to the incident at 11:09 p.m. and found several people in the apartment, one of whom had been wounded, the release said.

Officers were told that one to three males, one displaying a handgun, entered the apartment and demanded money. Police were told that person with the gun allegedly took a cell phone and money from the pockets of one of the people in the apartment, then fired a single round, striking the unidentified victim in the foot, according to the release.

Police said there were slight variations in the statements of each of the parties involved, and that the investigation is continuing.

No further information was released about the shooting victim.
