E. Baltimore St. to be closed as hospital demolition continues

HAGERSTOWN — East Baltimore Street between King Street and Mill Street was closed Monday as demolition work at the site of the former Washington County Hospital continues.

The street is scheduled to close periodically for the next three weeks, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org.

Brandenburg Industrial Service Company, the contractor for the demolition of the former Washington County Hospital complex, is demolishing the buildings facing East Baltimore Street, according to the advisory.

The road is expected to remain closedbetween 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. through Friday of this week, according to the advisory. The closure is then expected to be repeated Monday, Nov. 21, through Wednesday, Nov. 23 and Monday, Nov. 28, through Friday, Dec. 2.

Motorists in the area can use Antietam Street, Cannon Avenue and other city streets as detours around the work area.

Emergency vehicles cannot pass through the work area while the closure is in effect, according to the advisory.
