Mail Call - Nov. 14

November 13, 2011

“It’s nice to see Hagerstown baseball has a new coaching staff. Change is good. Go Rebels.”
— Hagerstown

“The mail delivery is beginning to be ridiculous in Halfway. We used to get our mail around noon and now if we’re lucky, we get it around 5 o’clock. The coupons that are sent out ... they’re always out of date by the time we get them.”
— Halfway

“It’s the holiday season. Watch the crime go crazy!”
— Hagerstown

“Heading east on 70, Sunday morning about 10 o’clock, everybody’s flying like they’re crazy. When I say flying, I mean everybody, because I’m doing 70 and they’re passing me like I’m sitting still. And I saw a state trooper off the side of the road, so I guess it doesn’t matter if you run 70, 80, long as you are not causing a wreck. Makes sense to me, I guess. Go for it.”
— Hancock

“I’m commenting on the Halfway person, on the trick-or-treating. Trick-or-treating is actually for children. It’s the parents who are greedy. You can’t take it out on the children because of what the parents do.”
— Halfway

“I’m calling in response to the person complaining about the state police barracks, and I want them to consider possibly all the big banks that are being built and the fancy buildings that are being built to house the banks. And then no one complains about that, but the cost of banking is going up, the costs of checks have gone up, the cost of doing business in the bank, period. I think you just need to think about other things and how the price is going up, with everything being so ridiculous in the way they build, but not just pick on the state police barracks, which has a good purpose.”
— Martinsburg, W.Va.

“I’m watching TV. This is on the oil pipeline Canada wants to build down through the U.S. to Texas. I see on TV there’s 8,000 young kids out there protesting the pipeline to come down through here because they’re scared it’s going to hurt the underground water. You know something, that’s the trouble with this country, these young kids don’t know what they’re talking about in the first place, and that’s the reason why this country’s (messed) up, because it’s got a bunch of rich people out here, bunch of rich parents brainwashing, these colleges brainwash them and everything, and the poor people are suffering; $3.80 for heating oil is ridiculous in this country.”
— Hagerstown

“Is it true they’re canceling Thanksgiving this year? I hear Christmas movies are on TV already. The stores are already celebrating Christmas. They’re trying to get everybody in the Christmas spirit, but this is way too early. By the time December comes, everybody’s going to be out of the spirit. They’re going to be burned out. They should just change Christmas to Nov. 1, since everybody’s on a big high to jump into it right away. All it is is commercialized anyway.”
