College financial aid night planned Wednesday at Goretti

November 13, 2011

St. Maria Goretti High School will host a college financial aid night Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Gael Center, the school's gymnasium.

The event is free and open to the public.

It will be an opportunity for parents to learn more about the process of applying for financial aid for their college-age children. An informational session on National Collegiate Athletic Association eligibility requirements will take place immediately following the financial aid portion of the evening.

"In these times, understanding all the resources available for financial aid is a really important part of the college application process. The types and availability of financial aid are constantly evolving, so it's critical that parents are made aware of all the different options," said Goretti's Deb Rosinski, director of guidance.

David Reeder, director of financial aid at Mount St. Mary's University, will be the presenter for the first portion of the evening. For the NCAA informational session, there will be representatives from Mount St. Mary's University (Division I), Shepherd University (Division II) and Hood College (Division III). Each of the representatives will provide information about recruiting rules and eligibility standards, and answer questions.

The NCAA session will be from 8 to 9 p.m.
