Goldie M. (Palmer) Authers, 94, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Md., passed away peacefully from this life Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011.

Born Dec. 15, 1916, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Gabe) Palmer. Her husband, Charles W. Authers Sr., preceded her in death in 1980.

She was a member of Black Rock Bible Church in Hagerstown, Md.

Goldie was formerly employed by Doubleday Publishing in Smithsburg, Md.

Goldie is survived by her grandson, Alan J. Authers of Bremerton, Wash.; two sisters, Mabel McCleaf and Catherine Gilbert, both of Hagerstown; and a niece, Doris Wisler of Hagerstown. In addition, Mrs. Authers is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Goldie was preceded in death by a son, Charles Authers Jr.; two brothers, Fred and Harry Palmer; and three sisters, Florence Armstrong, Ethel Edwards and Daisy McCauley.

A graveside ceremony will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Matthew Robinson will officiate.
