Mary Susan Hafer, 61, of Greencastle, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.

Born Jan. 25, 1950, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys V. Viands Fiegley.

She was a 1968 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

She received her RN degree from Pangborn Hall in Hagerstown.

She was employed by Washington County Hospital as a registered nurse until retiring in 2010. She was in the medical field for 42 years. She worked previously at several nursing homes in the Washington County and Franklin County areas.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.

Survivors include husband, Charles F. Hafer Jr., married for 36 years, of Greencastle; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty Diehl Hafer and Charles F. Hafer Sr., of Hagerstown; stepdaughter, Deb Stephens of Hagerstown; stepdaughter, Susan Aravanis of Smithsburg, Md.; stepgranddaughter, Megan; stepgrandsons, Grant, Jacob and Luke; brother, Dennis Cooper and his wife, Sharon, of Greencastle; brother, Thomas Cooper and his wife, Joyce, of Villages of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Terry L. and Anna Hafer of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md., Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 1 p.m. Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating.
