  • The Williamsport MadDogs, comprised mostly of Hagerstown PONY League All-Stars, recently went 4-1 to place second at the 15U USAAA Eastern Tournament in Goldsboro, N.C. The MadDogs beat the Carolina Rage 8-7, the Knightdale Knights 7-4, the Cary Sweepers 6-1 and the Wayne County Rays 7-0, before falling 3-2 to the Harnett County Hot Shots in the championship game. The MadDogs, managed by former Hagerstown Suns pitcher Marc Bluma, will play in the East Coast Championship Tournament in December in Myrtle Beach, S.C. For the tournament for Williamsport, Chase Eichelberger batted .538 with three RBIs, Garrett Spinks hit .444 with five RBIs, Blake Harne and Josh Miller each batted .363 and Timmy Hartsock and Joe Forti each hit .333. MEN’S BASKETBALL

BALTIMORE — Antonio Jenifer had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Hagerstown Community College as the Hawks improved to 4-0 with a 92-75 victory over Essex on Tuesday night.

HCC trailed 34-31 at halftime before outscoring Essex 61-41 in the final 20 minutes.

Alister Chisholm scored all 13 of his points in the second half for the Hawks and finished with 12 rebounds and eight assists. Devin Miller scored 12 of his 17 after halftime and also had seven rebounds and five assists in the game for HCC.

Raymar Watson added 10 points and seven rebounds in the victory.


GIRLS SOCCER

Kick’n It For A Cause set for Monday at Clear Spring

The second annual Kick’n It For A Cause benefit game, featuring Washington County seniors, will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Clear Spring High School.

The game will be West (Clear Spring, Hancock, North Hagerstown and Williamsport) vs. East (Boonsboro, Saint James, St. Maria Goretti, Smithsburg and South Hagerstown).

The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

Proceeds will go to the Shirley B. Robinson Memorial Fund, which helps local cancer patients and their families.
