Ruth T. Moore Showalter, 92, a resident of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, Pa., died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, in the nursing center.
Born Nov. 11, 1918, in Littleton, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Milledge and Mary (Miller) Thompson.
Her husband, Laban R. Showalter, died July 26, 2011. She was a member of the North Side Mennonite Church of Hagerstown.
Surviving family are stepchildren, Harold Showalter, Greencastle, Pa., Lewis "Sonny" Showalter, State Line, Pa., Ruth Ann Martin, Greencastle, and Barbara Frey, Newville, Pa.; two sisters, Rena Landry and Betty Conrad; and stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Bullard; and six brothers.
Ruth requested that her body be donated for medical science and research at the Hershey Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at the North Side Mennonite Church, 716 Locust St., Hagerstown, on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Gary Zook officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.
