Kathryn Louise "Kate" Myers, 89, formerly of Williamsport, Md., died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center, Hagerstown, Md.

She was born Jan. 15, 1922, in Waynesboro, Pa., to the late Preston Milford and Martha Isabell Stine Kendle, formerly of Funkstown, Md.

Kate was a good wife, housekeeper and mother, and grandmother. She was employed at Sears, Ingram's Men's Shop, Katy O'Connell's Dress Shop and The Windmill Shop. Kate had 12 brothers and sisters.

Kate enjoyed tennis, bowling, dancing, needlework and sewing. She loved her family and devoted her entire life to them. She was a beautiful person, inside and out.

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.

Kate and her husband, Jack, enjoyed dancing and belonged to Whirl-A-Way Square Dance Club in Hagerstown, Pen Mar Dance Club in Waynesboro, Pa., and danced with the Mary Smith Dance Group in Hagerstown. They attended dances at Pen Mark Park on Sunday afternoons.

Survivors include: husband, Wilbur J. "Jack" Myers, whom she married Nov. 10, 1942, of Hagerstown; son, Ronald J. Myers and wife, Frances, of Greencastle, Pa.; son, John D. Myers of Warrenton, Va.; son, Jeffrey L. Myers and wife, Linda, of Lancaster, Pa.; sister, Doris Roberts of Hagerstown; sister, Joann Brining of Hagerstown; sister, Cora Snowberger of Hagerstown; half-sister, Virginia Wills of Hagerstown; brother, Harry Kendle of Hagerstown; brother, Preston Kendle of Hagerstown; brother, Ralph Kendle of Boonsboro; brother, Leon Kendle of Boonsboro; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

She was predeceased by one son, David L. Myers, one sister, Pauline Kendle, and four brothers, Robert Kendle, Richard Kendle, Glenn Kendle and Donald Kendle.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Susan E. Boehl officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery Hagerstown.
