Antiques and collectibles show planned for weekend

The inaugural antiques and collectibles show takes place Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St. (U.S. 11).

Antique dealers will offer their merchandise for sale. There will also be homemade foods, baked goods, door prizes and raffles.

Admission costs $2.50 per person, 12 years and older.

Appraisals will be conducted Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by Vernon Lewis for Civil War and related items; Betty Bachtell for fine jewelry and sterling; and Alesia Permansu for glassware, vintage linens, clothing and collectibles. Appraisal cost is $5 for each item.

All proceeds will benefit Kinder Haven Child Care Center.

Calvary Temple to hold Christmas bazaar

A Christmas bazaar and bake sale will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary at Calvary Temple, 147 S. Conococheague St.

The event features new and used Christmas items, used winter clothing, a silent auction, and lots of baked goods. Breakfast and lunch will be available.

Holiday festival planned at St. Mark's Episcopal Church

St. Mark's Episcopal Church will host a holiday festival Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church Parish Hall, 18313 Lappans Road.

The event includes food and craft sale, gifts for giving, sit-down lunch area and a special children's room. Lunch will be available with homemade soups and sandwiches.

"St. Mark's Blend" coffee will be on sale, along with a selection of preserves and jams.

Proceeds will support the furnishing fund for the new St. Mark's Fellowship Center, slated to open in early 2012.

Vendor show will provide shopping ideas

The inaugural vendor show sponsored by PRAY, or Providing Relief for Autistic Youth Inc., will be held Saturday at the American Red Cross, 1131 Conrad Court, Hagerstown, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (shoppers must enter through the rear of the building.)

Businesses such as Thirty-One, Creative Memories, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple and others will be on hand. Local artisans will also be featured with original designs in handbags, home décor and other products.

Public meeting set on electric rate hike increase

There will be a public meeting Monday, Nov. 14, at Williamsport Fire Hall to discuss the proposed electric retail rate increase. A question-and-answer session with the public will be conducted after the regular town meeting, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Town Hall will be closed on Friday in observance of Veterans Day.

Cruise-in pictures with Santa now available

If you had a picture taken with Santa at the last cruise-in, those pictures are now available at Town Hall weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Potomac Garden Club to meet Tuesday, Nov. 15

The Potomac Garden Club will meet Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 12:30 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Kendra Grove, Hagerstown chapter leader of Quilts for Kids, will talk about the group's activities. The club is gearing up for its Christmas projects.
