Hospital center auxiliary to hold jewelry sale

Western Maryland Hospital Center Auxiliary’s jewelry sale will be Monday, Nov. 21, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Masquerade jewelry will be for sale in the hospital’s auditorium. Items for sale include rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and wallets.

The jewelry show is hosted by the hospital’s auxiliary and a percentage of sales will go to assist with patient care. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.

Western Maryland Hospital Center is at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.



Young at Heart to meet Thursday

Young at Heart will meet Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Golden Corral restaurant in Hagerstown.

Soup and sandwich sale planned at church

Zion Reformed UCC Church, at 201 N. Potomac St., will host a soup and sandwich sale Friday, Nov. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It will be eat in or carry out.  

On Saturday, Nov. 19, the church will host a soup, sandwich and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Proceeds will go to Micah’s Backpack.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 had a 30-pound weight loss the week.  

The best TOPS losers were Barbara Trumpower and Emma Jean Robertson.

The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Kathy Renner and Louise Kline.

Rose Shockey won the ha-ha prize.

The no-no snack for this week is candy.

The chapter welcomed new members Cathy Roberts and JoAnn Staup.

Cindy Ryder presented the program titled “Breakfast Matters.”   Members will collect hats, gloves and mittens this month for elementary school children.

The chapter meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown. Weigh-in is from 7 to 9:15 a.m. and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Books for Babies

Fliers for the Reading to Make Cents contest to raise money for the Books for Babies program will be going home with students.

Be on the lookout for a white paper with bright green print.

This is the 10th anniversary of the Reading to Make Cents contest, which will be held the week of Nov. 13 to 20.

The money will be used to buy books that will be included in a book packet presented to each newborn at Meritus Medical Center.

City church plans bazaar, yard sale

John Wesley United Methodist Church will hold a bazaar and yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The church is at 129 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.

The event will include crafts, homemade soups, used books and yard sale items.
