Mrs. M. Jane (Pensinger) Shupp, 100, a resident of Ravenwood Lutheran Village and formerly of Oak Hill Ave., both of Hagerstown, Md., died at 12:32 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at the nursing home.
Born April 11, 1911, in Antrim Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late L. Roy and Mary E. “Mayme” (Snyder) Pensinger.
She lived her early life in the Greencastle area.
Mrs. Shupp graduated from Greencastle High School with the class of 1928. She graduated from Shippensburg Normal School in 1930 and later graduated from Shepherd College.
She and her husband, the late Dr. Isaac H. Shupp, were married in 1958 in Hagerstown.
Mrs. Shupp was a public school teacher in Pennsylvania and Maryland, teaching mostly sixth grade.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, and was a former member of Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post 6319 Ladies Auxiliary and Fountain Head Country Club.
Mrs. Shupp enjoyed playing golf, activities at the YMCA and being outdoors.
She is survived by one brother, Linford S. Pensinger of Greencastle; two sisters, Virginia R. Mowen and Anna Lee Diehl, both of Greencastle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Phillips and infant, Evelyn Pensinger; and one brother, Staff Sgt. Richard Pensinger.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with the Rev. Martin Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
