Mrs. Betty Lucille (Smith) French, 84, of Brunswick, Md., passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Earl French, who passed away Aug. 5, 1972.

Born April 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Souders) Smith.

She was the past auxiliary president of the Frederick Eagles. She was a member of Brunswick Moose and Eagles as well as AARP. She enjoyed feeding the birds at her house, NASCAR, bingo, watching TV and growing flowers.

She was the last of her immediate family.

She was the mother of Robert "Bobby" French of Brunswick, Earl French Jr. of Brunswick and Brenda Lowe of Frederick; the grandmother of Shelly Christina French of Thurmont, Md., Allison M. Lowe of Mount Airy, Md., and Sierra R. Lowe of Frederick; and the great-grandmother of Noah Smith and Caleigh Fenderson. She is additionally survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, from noon to 1 p.m. at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. French's name to the charity of one's choice.
