Evalena Hamrick "Eve" Davis, 84, of Leitersburg-Smithsburg Road in Smithsburg, Md., passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.
Born Thursday, July 7, 1927, in Richwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herbert Hamrick and the late Laura Perkins Hamrick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Derward E. Davis, on Feb. 21, 2011.
She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education at Cascade Elementary and Smithsburg High schools as a school cafeteria cook.
She was a lifelong member of Germantown Church of God.
Eve was loved and admired by all who met her. She was full of life and laughed very easily.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie L. Davis of Sharpsburg, Md., and Pam D. Hebb of Waynesboro, Pa,; sons, Dave E. Davis of Hagerstown and Terry L. Davis of Highland Park, N.J.; sisters, Kathy Hossler of Canton, Ohio, and Alberta O'Brien of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Dean Hamrick of Akron, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special canine companion, her poodle, Candy.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy K. Neal; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
