Robert Joseph "Bob" Forshaw, 70, of Hancock, Md., died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at his home.

Born Dec. 16, 1940, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the son of the late Robert James and Marie Ann Dragg Forshaw.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army, 18th Airborne and Electronic Board, from 1958 to 1961.

He retired in 2003 as a major from the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Md.

He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Association, 18th Airborne Corps, and a member of Hancock Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol Ann Shaffer Forshaw; children, Ruth Ann Brown of Florida, Robert J. Forshaw of California and Christine Forshaw of California; one sister, Marie Ann Kelly of Virginia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Forshaw.

A service will be Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Hancock Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Carol Davis will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
