The City of Hagerstown provided the following information about hydrant flushing and other work:
Hydrant flushing that began in the City of Hagerstown on Wednesday, Oct. 26, will be extended through Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The area is bordered by Kuhn Avenue to the west, Rowland Avenue to the north, Antietam Creek to the east, and Wilson Boulevard to the south, and includes Hagerstown Industrial Park and Ravenwood Heights.
Water customers in these areas are cautioned to frequently check their water supply for discolored water conditions that might occur because of this work, particularly when using automatic washing machines.
The City of Hagerstown's Water Division will perform work at Pump Station 3 on Orchard Hills Parkway, beginning at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Customers might experience low water pressure and some minor discoloration while the work is being completed.
The minor discoloration is a result of a change in flow, and all regulatory standards will be met.
The work is expected to be completed at approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. Emergency operations have been notified of the work and the potential of lower water pressure in the service area.
