Clear Spring High School will get a new audio system for its auditorium during the winter break.
The Board of Education voted 5-0 Tuesday to award the project to the lowest bidder, Cardinal Sound & Communications of Silver Spring, Md., for $29,800, according to an online broadcast of the meeting.
The other two bids were $38,997 by Good Sound Co., of Newmanstown, Pa., and $43,500 by Hunt Audio Video of Hagerstown, according to presentation documents.
The high school has had to borrow or rent sound equipment for theatrical performances because the existing sound system doesn't reach the entire audience, the documents said.
Board member Jacqueline Fischer was absent from the meeting.
Board member Donna Brightman stepped away from her seat during the presentation to provide the school board's attorney with information about a proposed new ethics policy, according to a voice mail Brightman left The Herald-Mail.
The vote was held before she returned to her seat.
