Mail Call - Nov. 1

November 01, 2011

“This is something I haven’t seen addressed anywhere, but I was wondering, the debt that New York City is racking up because of the protesters, why shouldn’t the unions have to pay that debt, since they’re the ones who are supporting this?”

— Maugansville

“I am a senior citizen. I will not call nor ask to have a pool installed in the senior citizens center. I do not think it necessary to spend $6 to $8 million on a senior citizens clubhouse.”

— Hagerstown

“I’m glad to see that the senior citizens are finally getting a raise on their Social Security checks, but I’ve got one question. I’m on disability. I worked for 30 years in a factory before I got on disability, because they made me retire because I had surgery. Now why aren’t the ones who worked and paid in getting as much retirement, as much of a raise as the Social Security people? I’d just like to have an answer to this question.”

— Williamsport

“I thought I had a family doctor, but apparently I have a nurse practitioner instead. When did nurse practitioners become doctors? Is this a new trend, or am I missing something? Could someone please explain this to me? Are nurses now doctors?”

— Clear Spring

“Once again, the Republicans in Congress, in order to make the president look bad, are fighting everything that could possibly create jobs for the people of America. Rep. Shuster and Sen. Toomey, where are the jobs?”

— Waynesboro, Pa.
