Goldie Elizabeth Peabody, 96, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at her home.

Born Nov. 29, 1914, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Lloyd and Margaret Dixon Stone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Peabody, on Nov. 26, 1995.

She was owner and operator of Goldie's Beauty Shop for 60 years.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary for 63 years, a lifetime member of Ladies of Elks Auxiliary 378, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 089, and a member of several square-dance and round-dance groups.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by four nephews, Ronnie E. Stone of Waynesboro, Pa., Donnie L. Stone of Greencastle, Pa., Dana L. Schoppert of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Lloyd R. "Buddy" Stone Jr. of Hagerstown; and two half brothers, Daniel O. Stone and Earl Stone, both of Baltimore, Md.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Schoppert; and one brother, Lloyd Stone Sr.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p m.

Family requests omission of flowers, with memorial donations made to Grace United Methodist Church, 712 W. Church St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
