Leon W. Cross, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born in 1927 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Hoye William Cross and the late Goldie Viola MacDonald Cross.

He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1945.

He was employed with M.P. Moller Inc. for 45 years, retiring in 1989 as head finisher.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Merchant Marine.

He was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, and a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 378 and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Fleming and husband, Steven, of Shippensburg, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Marie Cross, in 1998, and his brother, Howard Edwin Cross.

Family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at 10 a.m. from First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Steven L. Johns-Boehme officiating.

Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church Pipe Organ Fund, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
