Sewer line work closes portion of E. Washington St.

November 01, 2011

HAGERSTOWN — East Washington Street in Hagerstown was closed between South Locust Street and Cannon Avenue on Tuesday as crews from B. Frank Joy worked on the sewers in that area.

The crews are rehabilitating the sewer lines there, B. Frank Joy employee Ricky Ford said.

Many of the pipes were cracked, and Ford said they were repairing them.

"They are basically having the pipes replaced," Ford said.

The repair work was expected to be completed Tuesday and the road was expected to reopen by late afternoon, Ford said.
