October 27, 2011

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police have filed criminal charges related to an arson fire at 5 a.m. Oct. 16 in a duplex.

Kathy Jo Wright, 37, of 7674 Molly Pitcher Highway, is charged with arson with the intent to destroy an unoccupied building, arson with the intent to collect insurance money, criminal mischief, risking catastrophe, making a false/fraudulent/incomplete insurance claim, and two misdemeanors, according to a police news release and online court records.

The address listed by police for Wright matches the one for the affected home.

Court records indicate Wright posted $50,000 bond through a bondsman after being arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Kelly Rock in Fayetteville, Pa., on Wednesday.

"This investigation is still proceeding and could see further arrests," the news release states.

Police said a trained dog searching rubble discovered a soda bottle with what is believed to be gasoline in it. That bottle was sent to the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Lab for further testing.
